Myocarditis can occur when any infectious disease, but currently myocarditis is most often seen in viral infections. To non-communicable factors that cause myocarditis are some medicines (antibiotics, sulfonamides, hydrochlorothiazide methyldopa and others), serum and vaccines. Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle. Myocardium is the muscle of the heart, and “-itis” means inflammation. Myocarditis occurs when a virus (or, more rarely, a bacteria or fungus) infects the body, and one of the places that it attacks is the heart.

2021-03-22 Manage the chronic cardiac sequelae: Recovering from the acute phase of myocarditis doesn’t necessarily mean smooth sailing — some develop chronic heart failure, warranting GDMT — or guideline directed management and therapy, as defined by Dr. Randall Starling in Ep 13. 2015-08-15 The symptoms of myocarditis can be misleading, however. The earliest signs usually mimic those of a typical viral infection. Children might present with a low-grade fever, runny nose, cough, and other symptoms that are easily mistaken for a common cold or mild flu. Chronic active myocarditis is characterized by ventricular dysfunction accompanied by chronic inflammatory changes. Chronic persistent myocarditis, wherein there is no ventricular dysfunction but persistent histologic infiltrate [5]. 1998-09-01 2017-06-09 Like Peanut Butter?

This study analyzes morphologic and functional alterations detected by M-mode and 2-dimensional echocardiography in 41 patients with histologically proven myocarditis and different clinical presentations: congestive heart failure (63%), atrioventricular block (17%), chest pain (15%) and supraventric …. Background: Myocarditis is defined as inflammation of the myocardium accompanied by myocellular necrosis. Experimental evidence suggests that autoimmune mechanisms follow viral infection, resulting in inflammation and necrosis in the myocardium. However, the use of corticosteroids as immunosuppressives for this condition remains controversial.
